“Do you ever wonder if we’re in someone else’s love story?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean we can see what we want, but have no direction of the plot.”

When I looked back at her, she was already looking at me, wearing a smile that seemed to promise things would be ok. Then we both stared into the opaque darkness beyond the garden wall.

This is the story of Lily and Miles - or rather the context in which their relationship exists. Characters held together in a web of desire, pieces of a puzzle, each with their own story to tell.

Why Moles in Little Suits

My fondest memories are of making up worlds with sticks on dog walks and being read to as a child.

‘The Wind in the Willows’ was top of the list, inspiring the name of our home.

Of all the characters we came to love, Mole was my favourite - in his smart little suit.

But life took over and my passion was lost.

Looking for answers I read ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’.

There I met another mole in a little blue suit, his attitude to life infecting my own, and soon I had written a book.

I write to speak to the child in me - the one trying to navigate the adult world.

To make sense of memories, thoughts and feelings, conversations that never occurred.

To write about all the irrational things that make us human beings.
